for a highly at areas of eastern new england. for us, we're on the southern tail of all this. still, we'll feel the effects with big wind. look at the advisories up for a significant amount of snow that's expected to fall in areas of eastern new england, around boston, massachusetts and connecticut and high winds as well so they've got the blizzard warning that's been posted areas of eastern massachusetts and connecticut. newark almost an inch. caldwell in new jersey, 3 inches of snowfall in yonkers just over 2 as well. in that pocket of boston and through areas of connecticut even, a blizzard warning where they could see a foot to upward of 2 feet of snow. here's what they're expecting up through here. again, the higher snowfall amounts, the bull's-eye right there had. we'll be on the tail end of it all. still again, it's wind for us and the storm system, again, ramping up. look at radar right now. there's the area of low pressure moving up the coast and that other little piece sweeping in to meet up with it. an area of low pressure that will really allow this system to intensify. on our radar

to 60 degrees but by this time tomorrow, some of us could be dealing with some snow. doug, what's the latest you are hearing? >> that's the interesting part of this. when you look at what we have seen this winter, sheer lack of snow, warmer temperatures, you have to look at the storm and think we are not going see a lot with this one. 53 degrees now. winds out of the south 9 miles an hour. plenty of shine. it is a beautiful, beautiful afternoon. it is going to continue to be right on through the evening hours. 61 in culpeper. 57 in fredericksburg. 54 in gaithersburg. annapolis coming in at 52 degrees. looking at the radar, not seeing anything now on the radar picture. as we widen out to the south, a ton of moisture down here. our storm system is this one right here in through central portions of oklahoma. that will ride our way and bring moisture into our viewing area during the day tomorrow. i think for the most part this will start off as rain but some of you do have a chance of accumulating snowfall. we will talk about who has the best chance of snow and what is coming next,

the sheriff rick staneck told us he sees firsthand a link between gun violence and mental health. >> this is not about those who are receiving treatment. they're no more violent than anybody else. but untreated, we have a problem. >> reporter: staneck is president obama's ear, using white house meetings to push for more resources to identify and treat the mentally ill and keep dangerous people away from guns. the problem can be seen at jails across the country like this one, where an estimated 25% to 30% of inmates suffer from a mental illness. experts say not all those people belong here. those that do sometimes struggle to get the care they need. 8 of the 9 killers in mass shootings last year had histories of mental illness. few received care and none were blocked from legally purchasing a well because of gaps in the federal background system. >> when we run the background check for you to purchase or acquire a hand gun, if we say it's okay, nothing comes back, you should be good to go. the fact of the matter it's not. it's really become america's dirty little secret about thes
